Ometepe is an island in Central America's largest lake, Lake Nicaragua, comprised of two twin volcanoes. The active Concepción Volcano is on the island’s north. On the island, you will experience mangroves and volcanic ecosystems where you will see howler monkeys and tropical fauna roaming freely around the island.
What to do in Ometepe
Many hostels offer kayak renting by the hour for a very reasonable fee. I recommend kayaking to explore the raw beauty of the nature of this island. Also, the water on Lake Nicaragua near the island is fairly calm.
Ometepe holds many scenic views. You can take a boat around the island, hike the island, or rent a bike and go through the island. Either way, you'll be sure to see howler monkeys and the two twin volcanos.
